Zelleke Ayde and Anneke Sontrop founded ISOB Foundation in 1997 in Amsterdam. In cooperation with WODA in South Ethiopia we help people to overcome poverty and injustice caused by lack of knowledge and proper healthcare. WODA has 130 (paid) staff and + 400.000 members who contribute to the projects in the form of finance or workforce. ISOB works with volunteers only.

Een ANBI hoeft geen successierecht of schenkingsrecht te betalen over erfenissen en schenkingen die de ANBI ontvangt in het kader van het algemeen belang. Uitkeringen die een ANBI doet in het algemene belang zijn vrijgesteld voor het recht van schenking. Als een instelling door de Belastingdienst is aangewezen als een ANBI, kan een donateur giften van de inkomsten- of vennootschapsbelasting aftrekken (binnen de daarvoor geldende regels). Zelleke Ayde, Chairman
Zelleke started his public health career in 1971 in Wollo Ethiopia. He organized setting up shelters to feed and treat people during the draught and hunger disaster. Terre Des Hommes invited him to study medicine in the Netherlands. He studied tropical agriculture in Deventer and medicine and medical biology at the VU and UvA while working at Kriterion. In 1983 he co-founded "Stichting Ethiopië in Nood Nederland". Since 1997 he is an employee at medical Faculty of Amsterdam, medical microbiology department Virology molecular diagnostic and research unit AMC. He visits Ethiopia regularly to meet WODA and evaluate, discuss and plan the projects. Being a diaspora he is our important connection and bridge to the Ethiopian peoples and cultures.

Henk Gilis, Secretary
Henk Gilis (Ing) works at the Academical Medical Centre in Amsterdam, Parasitology Department. He went to Ethiopia in 2008 to train and support a student with fieldwork and laboratory works for her masters degree in Human Ecology. He is our practical man and plans to contribute to the setup of a laboratory at the health center and develop medical research in the region.

Anneke Sontrop, Treasurer
Anneke started teaching in Utrecht and studied languages in London, England and in the Provence, France. She studied Pedagogic at Nijmegen University. Because of a new interest she switched her career towards Information and computer technology. She experienced the fast development of automation and internet technology. Her vision is that Information Technology is a strong tool that can bring fast development in poorer countries around the world. She is webmaster at School of Sports and Nutrion of HvA. For ISOB she masters the website and manages finance and projects.

Henriette Groot Antink, board member
Since July 2010 Jet Groot Antink, CAS coordinator ISSE, joins ISOB as a board member. Together with her students she has been working on the Ethiopia Help project for many years. In 2010 she went to Ethiopia for the first time. She lay the foundation for a student exchange between the ISSE students and the Ethiopian students of the Wolaitta Liqa school. She designed the Adopt a Liqa Student Action and she is reshaping the Ethiopia help project into a Support a Liqa School Student project.

Michael and Truus Gedult, Drs.
Michael worked as an economist for the Dutch Bank in Amsterdam and Truus was a Physician in West Africa for several years. They are our advisors for the medical project.
Thei Haumann, Dr.
Retired Pediatrician, worked at the Academisch Ziekenhuis Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, and for ‘Artsen zonder grenzen' (Medicine sans Frontiers). Co-founder of " vereniging Vrienden van Mekane Hiwot". Thei contributed in many ways to ISOB and is helping our Foundation since its start in 1997.read more about Thei (in NL)
Maurits van Heek, Drs.
Historian, involved in (development) project assessment and observer at elections in new democracies, like the Ethiopian elections in 2010. Maurits is advisor and intermediary in finding some of the project funds.
Anneke Liefkens, Ing.
Retired IT teacher at Facility Management University in Wageningen. She also worked on nutrition, healthcare and women's projects in Ivory cost, Indonesia and Kenia. She is our advisor on nutrition, women's healthcare and education.
Judy Morrison.
English teacher, worked for BLTC (British Language Training Centre) and ABS (Amsterdam Business School). She teaches at InHolland in Amsterdam. Judy contributed in many ways to the educational projects of ISOB and is an enthusiast supporter of ISOB since its start in 1997.

Zelleke Ayde en Anneke Sontrop hebben Stichting ISOB opgericht in 1997 te Amsterdam. Henk Gilis is secretaris en Henriette Groot Antink, CAS coordinator International Secondary School Eindhoven, is in 2010 toegetreden als 4e bestuurslid. ISOB werkt uitsluitend met vrijwilligers waardoor de overhead kosten erg laag blijven. ISOB werkt nauw samen met WODA, een lokale NGO met een breed regionaal draagvlak die zich inzet voor de hele bevolking in Wolaitta, zuid Ethiopie. WODA heeft 130 (betaalde) medewerkers en 400.000 lokale leden die bijdragen aan de projecten, zowel financieel als door het leveren van menskracht.
